Cetera Odom-Melonson

Where are you located/based out of?: Beaumont, TX
Where did your inspiration for photography begin?: I honestly would have to say my mom was my inspiration for photography. Growing up I would always have 3 - 4 film kodak single use cameras in my possession at any given time. My mom would take me to Wal-Greens to get the film developed several times a week and sometimes twice a day to drop off my film and before leaving the store she would buy me another pack of cameras.
How would you describe your photography style?: I would describe my photography style as of right now rich, vibrant, colorful, and emotive.
Did you study photography in school or are you self taught?: Ironically, I took communication graphics in high school, but I didn't really pay attention (wish I would have, & yes I did pass) because it was an elective so I was taking it for the purposes of credits, and I was really into sports so I just knew I was going to the WNBA. Fortunately, I did learn the basics of photoshop (Thank you Mr.Loker!). So my learning there after was self taught. I am a firm believer in that knowledge is power, so the more you know the more you grow.
What is a good lesson you have learned this year in photography or your business?: Business: Learning how to say no, valuing my time and sticking to the said. Photography: Practice makes perfect, so get out and shoot.

If you could encourage a new photographer in one area, what would it be?: Lighting/ Off Camera Flash

What’s the best advice you would give the YOU of last year?: Don't be afraid to take risks, don't doubt yourself, dare to be different and stay true to yourself.

What would be your dream photography assignment/client to work with and why?: My dream photography assignment would be a trip to Australia to shoot & capture the everyday lives of the indigenous peoples of the Aboriginal group.

Do you feel like you’ve mastered the work/life balance?: I wouldn't say that I have mastered the work/life balance, especially in that life is just that, so it can and will throw curve balls. However, it is something that I work on everyday even if it's one thing that I can find or input to make my work/life balance easier.
